Tutorial 4 How About Online Fundraising? Accepting Payments OnlineIf you anticipate accepting payments of any kind - membership dues, donations, sales of fundraising items - I recommend PayPal.They charge a small fee, but their service remains the most economical way of taking secure payments online, at least up to the point where you are bringing in $1,500 a month. Wouldn't we all like to have THAT problem? Accept Payments Online with PayPal. Fast, Easy & Secure. Sign Up Now! Then come back to this page. You'll need you organization's bank account and routing numbers (so PayPal can deposit money into your bank account), and your (new?) email address. You'll probably want to choose "business account" as your account type, but you may want the Premier account instead. The business account should be fine, especially if your email address reflects your organization's name. But it's your choice. Be sure to record your PayPal account number and password, and keep them in a safe place. They are easy enough to retrieve, but having them available when you need them saves you some time. Follow the directions on the PayPal site - they're pretty straightfoward. You won't be able to totally finish the "Donate" or "Buy Now" buttons until you verify your bank account. PayPal will make two (very) small deposits to your account, and you have to go back to the PayPal website and tell them how much. That way they know that you are YOU. If you access your bank account online, you can usually find out the amounts within a few days. Or, call the bookkeeping department at your bank, and they can help you. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for your statement to come in. Once you are verified, you are allowed to build your buttons. All you have to do is copy that (very long) text into the spot where you want the button (If I'm building your page for you, you'll have to email that text to me; I can't access it myself because I don't know your private banking information). It's amazing how a gajillion lines of code shows up as a teeny button. Ahh, the miracles of the internet. ~~~~~~~~Once your pages have been submitted to Blanco-Texas.com and have been uploaded to the Internet AND you have forwarded your domain name to your "actual" address on the Blanco-Texas.com website, Your group's website can be accessed from anywhere in the world simply by using your domain name. You can use your URL (your domain name) and email address in your correspondence, brochures or business cards, even in publicity. For instance, if your organization is featured in a news story, you can give your domain name "for more information" (Of course, you want to make sure that the "more information" is actually on your website, so you're not misleading the public). You can pretty much use your name as you choose (within the guidelines, of course). It is your intellectual property. And with PayPal on your site, you can also accept money from practically anywhere that has an internet connection. ~~~~~~~~I want to thank you for taking advantage of this Free Web Hosting Program.
