2008 Texas Hill Country Calendar from the Hill Country Alliance
The Hill Country Alliance has issued a Texas Hill Country Calendar for 2008; the glorious photos will definitely make you "ooooh" and "ahhhh."
With a motto of "Education, Conservation, Cooperation," the HCA is a leader in the preservation of natural resources in Central Texas.
Part of an effort to educate the public about threats posed by urban sprawl, aquifer depletion and pollution in the Hill Country, Hill Country Alliance announced a photo contest last Spring.
"We believe photography can capture what is of value and what is at stake," said Roy B. Mann, HCA board member and Austin landscape architect who chaired the contest.
The twelve winning shots were chosen from over 200 entries.
In addition to spectacular photos, the calendar has information about issues such as native landscaping, conservation, rainwater harvesting and water quality protection, along with Web site addresses for additional information.
This inaugural edition of the HCA Calendar is dedicated to the memory of Lady Bird Johnson, whose advocacy of open space and wildflower protection is reflected on the calendar's pages.
And the day squares are large enough to write in your appointments - always a plus in my book.
