Tejas Art Club Meeting

September 21, 2006

The meeting started with introductions of new members and guests.

Joseph Walsh, a new member, gave a brief bio of his art. He is a photographic artist. Joe and his family recently moved to Blanco. They are currently living in the park until their home is completed. Welcome Joe ! Other members present were Joyce Alsup, Phyllis Fralick, Vaudie Burton, Stacey Kamas, Olga Ibarra and Linda Howard. Our guest speaker Janet Fisher.

Briefly we discussed the cleaning of brushes. I have included proper brush cleaning instructions in the envelope with these minutes.

Stacey gave the treasurer’s report. Our account is $227.00. We also have gotten our checks. They are Texas designs. Our current membership is now 23 members.

Our guest speaker was Janet Fisher. Janet was truly a delightful, informative and entertaining speaker. She gave us many tips and advice on painting, selling, framing, while relating to her experiences in the art world. One piece of advice was never to succumb to criticism. Beauty is always different to each person. A copy of Janet’s palette of colors was given to each member present. If any other members want a copy contact Olga or Linda.

Olga and Joyce have been working on the banner for the Art Show. They decided to create 2 banners, one for each side of the park. Currently painting the letters TEJAS ART CLUB. Beautiful work.

The logo of the club was discussed. The outline of Texas with a palette and brushes was chosen.

Progress on the art show is going well. We still need to create and place posters. Send out special invitations. Continue to recruit artists to participate in the show. If any member can assist, it will be appreciated.

In other business the web page was discussed. Problems were encountered with pictures and copyrights are needed for paintings being shown on the internet web site. More on copyright laws at our next meeting.

The winner of our recruit new members contest for members was Olga Ibarra with a total of 4 new members. Keep on recruiting!!!! The more the merrier. Olga received an easel as her reward.

The meeting was adjourned and refreshments served. Thank everyone for the chicken salad sandwiches, ham salad, avocado dip, oatmeal cookies and etc. Our next meeting will be November 16th at the Blanco Library. This will be a meet and greet for artists participating in the Art Show on November the 18th but all members are urged to attend and show your support.
