Tejas Art Club MeetingJuly 2006For those of you unable to attend our July 20th meeting here is a brief account of what you missed: Our Guest for the evening was Barbara Dowdy. Barbara is now a member of our club. Vaudie explained how she paints the building blocks with Gesso then paints them with oils. She has sold all but one. After introductions of all members and visitors, we discussed a contest for recruiting new members for the club. President Linda Howard will be giving the member who recruit’s the most new members an artist’s easel. This contest starts on July 20th 2006 and runs until our September meeting. Please encourage your new members to attend the September meeting. No treasurers report. The Art Show discussion started with notes from the committee meeting. November 18th 2006 is the date. Place is Roland and Bindseil Park Blanco, Texas. Time is from 9am to 5pm. Members are free, but non-members are $15. The city of Blanco has no fee or rules, but we must clean up the park after the event. NO FOOD CONCESSIONS IN THE PARK. Other discussion about the promotion of the art show. Each member must help promote the event. Newspaper ads, special invitations, invite the galleries, art associations, but especially local artists within a 35 mile radius of Blanco. Mission statement will go out to each member for approval or changes. Please bring changes to next club meeting. Domain name was paid for by Real Foods Market owner, Sherri Stockman. Must send a card of thanks. Our Guest speaker for the evening was Michael Earney. He demonstrated the use of an eye glass and mirror to draw pictures and get details. Very interesting….. Voted to join the Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $40. Door prizes won by Vaudie and Barbara.
