Tejas Art Club MeetingJanuary 20071. The introduction of members and guests started the first meeting of 2007. 2. Linda gave a short review of the planning meeting held by the officers prior to the regular meeting. Discussion on the formation of an Art Show Committee left Tony as head of this committee with Bev Tomek, Jesse Reyna, Sadie Haas as members of the committee. Olga Ibarra agreed to head the committee for a scholarship to a deserving student. Olga works with the school and knows the facility. 3. Stacy was absent so Linda gave the treasurers report. The club has approximately $380.00. 4. Olga gave a report on the status of the Website. We need to continue to support efforts to develop the site by providing necessary information and pictures. 5. Beverly Tomek was our guest speaker. Gourds are no longer just for birdhouses. Beverly provided information both orally and in writing about how to grow, clean, carve and paint gourds. She brought some of her works with her to show. I couldn’t image a gourd purse but she had made one. Beautiful work and quite different. 6. Tony spoke about his committee. He needed help in getting started. Linda would provide him with a check list. 7. Discussion was held with the members present on what speakers, activities, and things members want from the club. 8. Meeting adjourned.
