Real Foods Market & CafeA lot of folks are surprised to find a place like Real Foods Market here. After all, Blanco, Texas is a small town, and you wouldn't expect to find a natural food store, and especially one of such high caliber. It's not as big and doesn't have the selection of the "giants" (you know who we mean), but many of the prices are better than at those places, and you can get just about everything you need here. Everything healthy, that is. As much as possible, Real Foods Market carries organic and local products, from sprouts to grass-fed meats to local lavender items. All the produce and most of the dairy products are organic (or gan ic - raised and or processed without the use of chemical agents such as pesticides, herbicides, hormones, or chemical fertilizers). Their mostly organic meats (in the freezer section) are grass-fed and the seafood is wild-caught. There are amazing local eggs (the kids call them "real eggs") that come in an assortment of colors. A wide selection of cheeses include five varieties of local goat cheese. The kitchen at Real Foods Market & Cafe turns out freshly prepared items - deli style - for "Grab -n- Go" (there are tables, so you don't have to go; you can stay and eat, if you like). There is fresh vegetble or fruit juice, made to order, and the coffee is the best in town. It's organic and Fair Trade, too. Pour yourself a cup of Joe, or have one of the staff brew up a specialty coffee with the espresso machine. You can get your personal items here, as well, from aromatherapy to toothpaste. And there's a great selection of vitamins and other food supplements to choose from. If Real Foods Market doesn't carry the (health food) brand you're accustomed to, they will do their best to get it for you. They handle a lot of special orders.
