Great news!!!!! The weather man says that we will have a beautiful, clear, warm day on Saturday April 14th for our Trash Off and River Cleanup. One Hundred and Forty (140) volunteers have signed up to pick up large items to haul to the city yard and man it, and to pick up trash out of the city easements, out of the Blanco River and off of the
banks. This number also includes those who will be at the courthouse to hand out t-shirts and prepare and serve lunch.
After the event is over there is still so much work to be done by our city public service employees to process all the items that have been taken to the city yard. Two county employees have volunteered to help the city. Their job does not end when the gates are closed and we do appreciate them.
The team leaders should meet on the south lawn of the courthouse at 7:30. Kimberley and Kenneth Chapman, owners of The Sunset Restaurant, volunteered to serve breakfast tacos to our team leaders. The middle
and elementary school leaders will come at 8 and their student volunteers should be there at 8:30.
You will be able to put your t-shirt on in the courthouse restrooms.
This effort is part of the "Great American Cleanup" and "Don't Mess with Texas" efforts to help educate our youth as well as our adults on litter prevention. Please remember that if we are going to have a clean, healthy Blanco to live in we have to dispose of litter, trash and recyclables in the right way 365 days a year.
Please use your weekly garbage collection by IESI for litter and trash and our county recycle center on Jones Road for glass, plastic, paper, cardboard and metal daily. Please do not throw litter or cigarette butts or household garbage on the ground or out of your cars..
