Free Workshop this Saturday - Open to Everyone
Learn how to humanely keep the outdoor/stray/feral cat population numbers controlled.

Many residents feed the outdoor cats and benefit from the natural free rodent and snake control that comes with a few resident cats. However, if the cats are not sterilized, kittens are inevitable. Most of the kittens are born to die and that is a worry to compassionate folks who are concerned about the cats' increasing numbers and safety.

Local resident and founder of Animal Rescue Connections, Jenny Burgess, is presenting on Saturday 14 June, the first of monthly, Saturday, Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) workshops. Come learn why TNR is the only method that works effectively. The workshop will provide tips and instructions on how to safely and humanely reduce the free-roaming cat population in your community. Trapping and/or killing cats is inhumane and does not stop the outdoor cat population from increasing.

The workshop will explain everything you need to know about the TNR process, low-cost spay/neuter options, recovery protocols after spay/neuter surgery, how to help solve cat nuisance problems and safely manage outdoor cat populations. It's really not as difficult as you think and by using the suggested resources, it is not costly either!

The Saturday workshops are noon to 2:00 p.m. at the new Bulverde/Spring Branch Library located across from Home Depot on the hill above HEB shopping center.

Internationally recognized TNR works! The national organization, Alley Cat Allies, has extensive information on their website alleycat.org about the success and benefits of TNR. The Bulverde/Spring Branch TNR workshop offered by Animal Rescue Connections in partnership with the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition (SAFCC) will provide the community with information about local resources available at affordable prices.

The workshop is also a place to meet others in our community to create a network of people striving to improve the quality of life for the outdoor cats and maintain a balance in our neighborhoods by controlling their numbers. With the community working together, we can achieve much more.
